The Journey

"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." Matthew 11:28-30 The message

Dear Pastor,
For over 27 years Southeastern California Conference has invested in the spiritual and personal development of our pastors through the Journey process. We believe the priorities of being the people of God before we do the work of God, spending unhurried time in the presence of God then ministering from the overflow, living integrated spiritual lives in our families and church communities, all lead to the very best God-led, fruit-bearing ministry. About 150 pastors have participated in this process over the years, which includes an initial commitment to 6 retreats over a period of 2 years at our beautiful Pine Springs Ranch. In the midst of God’s creation, we pray together, abide in God’s word together and build community together. We spend time alone with God and with each other in a caring, accountable unhurried environment. In between retreats we seek to live out the principles and rhythms of God’s grace we have learned in our families and church communities. We continue to coach and encourage each other, and share what God is doing in our midst. We welcome all SECC pastors to participate and find refreshment and new depth in your own journey with Jesus and in your ministry to the community of faith. Jon Ciccarelli, Ministerial Director of the Southeastern California Conference, oversees the Journey on the Conference level, Ken Curtis, Associate Pastor at the Calimesa Church directs the Journey process. They work together with a team of other participating pastors to facilitate the retreats. Either they, or I, are happy to talk with you further about any questions you may have.

As we follow Jesus together,
Jonathan Park President, Southeastern California Conference

(NOTE: Expenses for the retreat are covered by SECC as an expression of their commitment to supporting you in ministry.)

Each generation is kept to approximately 15 pastors.
It is required for everyone in the cohort to attend all of the retreats (6 retreats over two years).
